Move Toward Your Blessing
SCRIPTURE VERSE: "Launch out into the deep" (Luke 5:4).
Jesus just ended speaking to a multitude of people, and he told Simeon Peter to go out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch. Now Peter and his crew were fishing all night, and they caught nothing, was it because they were not out into the deep, were they just fishing in shallow water? Jesus told them that the fish was not in shallow water but in the deep.
There is a spiritual lesson for us here in the words of Jesus. How deep He does not say. How deep would you say is your relationship with God, how far do we want to go, do we want to go out into the deep, are we willing to take that risk, are we willing to leave the land behind us and put our trust in the Lord?
I guess the depth is determine on how far we want to go, our depth is determine on how far we want to leave the land. Some like to have the land in sight when out in the boat, it gives them a sense of security, a feeling that if the land is in view, they feel safe.
I guess the depth that we want to go, will also depend upon our need. The fish that Jesus told his disciples were found out in the deep, not in the shallow water. So with us; our needs are meet when we venture to go deep in the things of God, they are not found in the shallow water or on the shore, but in the ocean of God’s mercy and grace.
In order for the disciples to get any fish, first they had to launch, they had to get of the shore and move toward the blessing. The same with us saints, Jesus bids up to launch, go towards your blessings. He bids us to go deep, for he wants us to have the best, the disciples were told to go out into the deep water, there you will find what you are looking for.
And when you are out into the deep, when you arrive at the place of blessings, just open yourself, to receive what you are in need of. Jesus said, that when you get to the deep, let down your nets for a catch. He also assured them that when they would let their nets down, they were going to receive.
Jesus is asking each one of us to launch out into the deep, do not be afraid, go toward your blessing, do not be afraid to step out in faith. Fear at times will have us frozen in our tracks, and we will not be able to go forward towards the blessings of God. So do not be afraid friend, leave the shore and step out in faith to receive your blessing, for the blessing is there for the seeker.
