Do You Know Me

Text: John 14:9

Philip ask the question, Lord show us the father and it will be enough, Jesus said "Philip all this time that I have been with you and you still do not know me." When I was preparing this devotional, God began to speak to my heart, of how much I know the Lord.

I guess all of us as asked the Lord questions that we should have known the answer, because by this time in our walk with God, by this time we should have know Him. Children are full of questions, because they are growing, I wonder the questions that we ask God is because we have not grown up.

Philip said "Lord show us the Father" and Jesus replies "Philip all this time I have spend with you, and you still don’t know who I am, because if you have seen me you have seen the father."

Our relationship with God is more than just getting or receiving from him, like turning on the tap to get water, or the switch to get power, it is there when I need it.

Our relationship with God should be one of knowing him. Have you ever heard people say, I been with them all these years and I never really got to know them, or we never really understood each other. There is something wrong when someone makes that statement, either it was on their side of not trying to understand or knowing them, or both sides.

But our relationship with God, and we know that on God’s side he is ready to have that relationship, but it is on our side to make the time for a relationship.

People say today, when not having a companion in life, I just don’t have the time for a relationship, because they are so caught up in their careers.

To be with someone like Philip was with Jesus and not knowing Him.

I been saved for 40 years, and I began to ask myself today, Lord do I really know you, because it would be a tragedy only knowing of God when I need Him and not really knowing him as I should.

Jesus said "Philip, all the time I spent with you, and you do not know me," in other words did you not understand what I been saying to you this number of years.

I trust saints that we not only know of him when we need him, but really know him.

God bless - have a great day in the Lord.

Frank
