I have Graven Thee Upon The Palms Of My Hands

"Behold I have graven thee upon the palm of my hands - Isaiah 49:16

In this verse, we have the words of the Lord to His people, which says that a mother may forget her own infant child, but He promised the that He will not forget them.

This is a word to the unbelieving people who said that the Lord had forsaken them, but God said "how can I, you are carved on the palms of my hands."

God always keeps his promises thousand times over, but yet when trials come, we may tend to forget the words of our Lord.

God never runs out of provisions as man do.

God never ends His day, as the sun sets in the sky, no He is forever watching over us.

And in times of trials we may tend to forget that, or when we go to bed at night, we tend to forget that He watches over us while we sleep.

The people said "the Lord has forsaken or forgotten us, and God says how can I, you are carved on the palm of my hands."

Not the wording here, God says you are carved on the palms of my hands, not your name but you.

In the wounds in his hands there is more than the forgiveness of sins, there is also carved on His hands:

Our circumstances in life.

  • Our sins.
  • Our sickness.
  • Our temptation.
  • Our weaknesses.
  • Our needs.
  • Our desires.

In other words, God has graven or carved in the palm of His hands, everything about us.

So when we look at the hands of Jesus and see the wounds, we should see ourselves.
