Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2

Loyal Heart

SCRIPTURE VERSE: "For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him." 2 Chronicles 15:9

Asa was king of Judah, and he was successful as long as he was loyal to the Lord. After coming back from a great victory over the Ethiopians, he was met by the prophet Azariah with a message form the Lord. This message from the Lord had both a warning and a blessing, the warning was for him not to forsake God or else God would forsake him; the promise was that if he sought the Lord he would find Him, and if he remained strong, the Lord would reward him.

The past of Israel is an example of this, that when the Israelites sought and obeyed God they were a mighty force in the land, but when they forsook God they were the weakest people in the Land, and they suffered greatly for their mistakes. King Asa was riding high at this point in his life, everything was going well, he won some great battles, as he sought the Lord with all of this heart. He did not put up with anything that took worship from God. He even removed his grandmother from the position as the queen’s mother because he had an idol.

But things began to changed in the later part of His life. The Syrians were planning to attach Asa, and he was afraid, and made a big mistake, he did not rely on the Lord to deliver them, as he did before. He did not accept the warning of the prophet but sought to do it his way and in his own strength, but little he realize that he had little strength without the Lord on his side.

So God sent the prophet against to Asa to rebuke him, and said you could have defeated the Syrians, if he had only trusted in God instead of relying on man. God would have been pleased to show himself strong to Asa and his army, if His heart had remained loyal.

Saints God is always looking for occasions to show Himself strong, no problem is to big for God, He is able to deliver and will protect those who heart remains loyal to Him. Let us pray that God will keep our hearts loyal to Him, that we will always seek the Lord.
