My Hiding Place
SCRIPTURE VERSE:" And David abode in the wilderness in strongholds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not out into his hands." 1 Samuel 23:14
Like David each Christian is pursued by an enemy called the 'devil',but Christians have nothing to fear from that enemy as long as we remain safe within our stronghold. 1Peter 5:8b, your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. But, like David we can find a place to hide, within the secret place of the Most High. It says that King Saul sought David everyday, he was determined to find him to have him killed or destroyed, but he could not find him.
Now David had many hiding places in the wilderness that he could escape to, he knew where the caves and the rocks were, and they were safe places for him to hide, as he moved from one to another. But David also knew who his true Stronghold was, for in Psalm 18;2, he says the Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer.
David was not saved from Saul because he as clever, or that he had the know how of covering his tracks, or because he was stronger or faster than Saul. He was safe because God kept Him safe. It says that God did not deliverer him into the hand of Saul. Just like David, we can rely on God , our stronghold, our rock our fortress to keep us from the enemy attacks. Our God is a sure, safe place to be hidden.
