Old Manna
Scripture Verse...... "EACH MORNING EVERYONE GATHERED AS MUCH AS HE NEEDED, AND WHEN THE SUN GREW HOT, IT MELTED AWAY." EXODUS 16:21 (NIV)
The Israelites were told to gather enough manna for the day, they were not to stored it away for some other time , but just for today. But some of them disobeyed the word of the Lord, and the manna smelled, bred maggots and had to be thrown away.
There is a lesson for us here in this verse. We cannot live on yesterday’s manna, we cannot live or survive on yesterdays blessings, there must be a fresh supply each day. The anointing of yesterday is not sufficient for today, there must be a fresh supply.
The sermons that we hear on Sunday was good, but we need fresh manna each day if we want to be healthy Christians. The instructions that Jesus gave to his disciples when asking for their needs, he said pray like this, "give us this day our daily bread," it was the daily bread that Jesus said to pray for, not tomorrow’s bread, but we need a fresh supply each day. As we prepare meals for our bodies, we also must have a helping of God’s manna for each day for our soul. Do not try to live on yesterdays manna, do not try to live on yesterdays anointing, or yesterdays oil, we need a fresh supply for each day.
The manna was especially nutritious for it sustain an adult for a full day as they traveled through the wilderness. Are you gathering manna each day, or are you trying to live on the old manna? Manna that is gathered only on Sunday, is not enough for the week, we need a fresh supply for each day. You might say I can’t seem to find the time, but we find time for other things, I am sure we can find time for God’s Word, you need it, and I need it, if we are going to continue to be healthy children of God.
Open your heart to Him, feast on His word, and let God filled you with heaven’s manna, as you claim the promises which are there for you. An helping of God’s Word will get you through the day.
